The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, in partnership with the Division of Festivals, has announced that the annual celebration will take place from June 14 through July 4, 2026, under the theme “History and Collaboration with a Musical Mix.”
Known as one of the territory’s most beloved cultural traditions, St. John Celebration combines the rich history of the Virgin Islands with weeks of entertainment, community pride, and family-friendly festivities. The annual event culminates in a powerful tribute to both Emancipation Day and Independence Day, bringing together residents, visitors, and generations of Virgin Islanders to honor the past while celebrating the future.
“St. John Celebration is one of the Territory’s most cherished cultural traditions and an important opportunity to showcase the vibrant spirit of our people and the natural beauty of our islands,” said Tourism Commissioner Jennifer Matarangas-King.
Throughout the three-week celebration, visitors can immerse themselves in authentic Caribbean culture through live music, traditional foods, cultural exhibitions, boat races, parades, and community events that highlight the unique character of St. John.
The festivities kick off on June 14 with the highly anticipated Pan-O-Rama, featuring electrifying steel pan performances at Franklin A. Powell Sr. Park. The celebration continues with the Royalty Show on June 20, showcasing young cultural ambassadors who represent the pride and heritage of the island.
One of the most popular events returns on June 21 with the annual Food Fair, Coronation, and Boat Races, where visitors can sample authentic island cuisine, enjoy cultural displays, and witness exciting maritime competitions in Cruz Bay Harbor.
Music lovers won’t want to miss the Beach Jam on June 27, followed by the official opening of Celebration Village on June 28. The village will serve as the heart of the festival, featuring nightly entertainment, local vendors, cultural performances, and community gatherings through July 4.
A highlight of the celebration is the annual J’ouvert Celebration on July 3, where revelers take to the streets before sunrise for an energetic morning of music, dancing, and island traditions. Later that day, residents and visitors will gather for an Emancipation Day program honoring the abolition of slavery in the Virgin Islands, followed by the moving Torchlight Parade.
The celebration reaches its grand finale on July 4 with the colorful St. John Celebration Parade, featuring cultural groups, dancers, performers, and community organizations marching through Cruz Bay. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display over Cruz Bay Harbor.
This year’s celebration also recognizes outstanding community leaders for their contributions to Virgin Islands culture and service. Honorees include Jennifer Williams as Food Fair Honoree, Tishelle Knight as Village Honoree, and Lisa Penn as Parade Marshal.
