Jocelyne Firmin: From Haitian Roots to Healing Eczema Through Kiyamel Skincare
Jocelyne Firmin, a Haitian-born entrepreneur, has turned her personal journey into a life-changing mission with Kiyamel Skincare, a brand dedicated to providing natural, science-backed solutions for eczema and sensitive skin. Her passion was born out of necessity when her infant daughter developed severe eczema at just six weeks old. Driven by maternal instinct, Firmin collaborated with a chemist to create a formula that successfully healed her daughter’s skin, sparking the launch of Kiyamel Skincare in January 2021.
Raised in Haiti, Firmin’s entrepreneurial journey began as a child, inspired by her mother, a street vendor. Her hard work and determination earned her a full scholarship to study in the United States, where she embraced the opportunities of the American dream. After completing her education, she returned to Haiti to give back, founding a nonprofit organization that empowered young women through leadership training and self-esteem building.
Five years later, Firmin relocated to Salisbury, Maryland, to pursue her dream of entrepreneurship. Her journey took an unexpected turn when her daughter’s eczema inspired her mission-driven approach to business. “I always say that I’m not profit-driven; I’m mission-driven,” she explains. Firmin’s passion for helping others is evident in the exponential growth of Kiyamel Skincare, which has received heartfelt testimonials
from customers whose lives have been transformed by her products
Operating out of the Eczema Store in Dagsboro, Delaware, Kiyamel Skincare addresses the needs of the 31 million Americans living with eczema, as estimated by the National Eczema Association. Firmin credits perseverance and mentorship as key factors in overcoming challenges and building a successful business.
Looking ahead, Firmin aims to expand Kiyamel Skincare across the U.S. and into international markets, with aspirations to see her products in major retail stores. “My story is a testament that no matter where you come from, the ability to triumph belongs to you,” she shares.
