Trendsetting: Entrepreneur Aisha Bowe Sets New Heights in Space Travel and Business Success

Sharon S Gordon July 3, 2023

Aisha Bowe, the trailblazing entrepreneur and former rocket scientist, has achieved yet another remarkable milestone in her career. Not only is she set to become the first Black woman to travel to space with Jeff Bezos on a commercial flight through Blue Origin, but she has also secured a billion dollar government contract for her company. With a track record of founding and growing three multimillion-dollar businesses, Bowe’s success resonates across industries and highlights the immense potential within minority-owned enterprises.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) recently announced that they have awarded a groundbreaking $947 million contract to Exacta Solutions. This contract is designed to provide support for NGA’s total lifecycle acquisition management, strategic financial management, and strategic business management activities. Bowe’s achievement not only solidifies her position as a rising mogul but also represents a significant breakthrough for minority-owned businesses.

Bowe’s journey to success has not been without its challenges. In her teenage years, she faced a counselor who suggested she pursue cosmetology. However, she knew deep down that she aspired to achieve something greater. It was during her time at Washtenaw Community College that she discovered her passion for math and science. Driven by determination, she transferred to the University of Michigan, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s degree in Space Systems Engineering. These achievements opened the doors to an incredible career as a rocket scientist at NASA. Throughout her journey, Bowe has realized that the only limitations in life are the ones we impose on ourselves.

Leaving NASA behind, Bowe set out to support and inspire underserved communities. She noticed the lack of representation for minorities in certain spaces, and now, as a business and STEM leader, she hopes to be an inspiration for those who follow in her footsteps. Bowe is dedicated to advocating for Black boys and girls, individuals of Caribbean heritage, and women business owners. Her goal is to demonstrate their presence and accomplishments in these fields, showing that they too can build multimillion-dollar companies, secure billion-dollar contracts, and create educational opportunities.

As a serial entrepreneur, Bowe successfully bootstrapped her first company, generating millions in revenue. She has been recognized on Inc.’s Female Founders 100 list, which honors innovative women who are shaping the world for the better. Bowe is the founder and CEO of STEMBoard, an award-winning tech company ranked on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in America. Additionally, she is among a select group of women of color who have raised over $1 million in venture capital funding. Bowe’s venture-backed company, LINGO, offers a hands-on coding kit that enables students to learn coding at home and is available through major retailers such as Amazon, Target, and Walmart.

Bowe’s remarkable achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women, as she paves the way for increased representation in the tech and aerospace industries. Her visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to excellence, and dedication to empowering the next generation make her a true trailblazer and a role model for individuals from all walks of life.
