COLUMBUS OH -The 7th Annual Keys to Black Wealth (K2BW) Black History Month Experience is set to energize Columbus, Ohio, on February 15, 2025. As the city’s premier networking event during Black History Month, this experience promises a unique blend of education and entertainment—or “edutainment”—while fostering meaningful connections and celebrating community empowerment.
Keys to Black Wealth: Bridging the Racial Wealth Gap
Founded in 2019 by visionaries David DeBerry II and Brandy N. Avery, Keys to Black Wealth was created to combat the systemic barriers contributing to the growing racial wealth gap. By combining technology, multimedia, and dynamic events, K2BW equips Black and Brown communities with education, mentorship, and tangible resources to build generational wealth.
The K2BW mission is deeply rooted in addressing urgent disparities. Black communities in the United States face the highest rates of crime, incarceration, poverty, and infant mortality, paired with the least tangible wealth. The numbers tell a stark story: in 2019, the median white household had $188,200 in wealth—7.8 times more than the median Black household, which held only $24,100.
