The Horizontal Urban Business Community Development Corporation opens its doors in celebration at the October grand opening FREE and open to the public.
Columbus, OH, September 17, 2015- Community Activist, entrepreneur and The HUB CDC Founder/President Asad Shabazz and Urban Trendsetters News Magazine Founder/ Publisher Sharon S. Gordon have come together for the common goal and vision of creating economic empowerment opportunities to the Central Ohio community with the launch of The HUB Community Development Corporation. “Our desire at the HUB is to provide a holistic approach to gaining and sustaining life balance. If it is your goal to get your GED or obtain additional workforce training or to get a job or become a small business owner, or all of the above we are here to guide our clients through the process and journey” – states founder and president Asad Shabazz.
The HUB is a Non-Profit Workforce and Economic Development Enterprise, housed in a 15,000 sq. foot facility, whose primary responsibility is to link individuals and small businesses with viable educational, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Featuring a people & business incubator and resource center, we offer our clientele: office, booth, conference and meeting space; technical support; networking opportunities; work readiness and business mentors and training services; soft and hard skills training; mediation and communication classes; procurement, job and health fairs, and other key employment and business relevant services and resources.
Though open to the public for workshops, training and other services, the HUB’s business incubator is a membership based program. Clients can purchase services daily or rent office space.
In a recent interview, Sharon S. Gordon, CEO and publisher of Urban Trendsetters states “I have had the pleasure of working with small businesses in this community for the past 25 years, and as a small business owner myself, I know first-hand the struggles of not just creating and launching a small business but sustaining a small business. I believe that the HUB may be the missing link for many small business owners in Central Ohio.”
The HUB Community Development Corporation is located at 1336 E Main St in Columbus Ohio, will celebrate its grand opening with a 3-day schedule of events beginning with ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 1 at 5:00 PM. Councilman Shannon Hardin will be a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony and will deliver a resolution from City Council. County commissioners have also offered their congratulations and support along with a proclamation from Governor Kasich’s office. Tours of the facility will begin at 12 noon.
On October 2nd, the HUB will host its first On-Site and Virtual Career Fair powered by Career Town and then on October 3rd will be the Small Business & Opportunity “Plan B” Expo. All events are free and open to the public. For more information visit the HUB online at http://www.thehubcdc.com
