Released on November 17, the former President’s book opened to huge sales upwards of 880,000 in the United States and Canada on its first day of release. These figures make it the largest first-day sales total for any book published by Penguin Random House.

The only other White House resident to even come close to matching the sales of ‘Land’ is none other than his wife, Michelle Obama, with her memoir ‘Becoming’ which sold an outstanding 725,000 copies in North America during its first 24 hours of release.

So far, Mrs. Obama’s publication has seen sales succeeding the 10 million mark (and that’s prior to a paperback release).

If news of his astonishing sales isn’t enough, the former President is slated to receive PEN America’s Voice of Influence Award next month.
